Submissions of Plays are being accepted for the Strawberry One-Act Festival (May 2018): Late Deadline: March 30th

The festival will run from May 14 - May 27, 2018

The Riant Theatre’s Strawberry One-Act Festival will be held at the Theatre 54 @ Shetler Studios in Manhattan from May 14th – May 27, 2018, and is now accepting submissions for plays with a running time from 15 minutes – 30 minutes. Plays can advance from Round 1, Semi-Finals, Finals and the Awards Show & Performance. The judges for the Finals will consist of (1) Theatre Producer, (1) Artistic Director, (1) Agent, (1) Casting Director and (1) Actor. The 4 Best Plays will perform at the Awards Ceremony on May 27th and the option to do an Encore Performance at one of our Partner Theatre Companies. For plays accepted into the festival the participating fee is $300 for plays received by the November 15th and $350 for plays received by March 30th, which includes: 
  • an on-camera interview for your play,
  • a (1) technical rehearsal in the theatre. Additional rehearsal time in the theatre can be rented at a fee,
  • inclusion in our mailing brochures and our blog The Vine: Everything That’s Fresh in the Strawberry One-Act Festival,
  • (1) ticket to our Launch Party,
  • (1) comp tickets whenever your play is performed,
  • (1) ticket to the Finals; and
  • (1) ticket to the Awards Ceremony.
  • The winner of the Best Play receives $1,500. Awards are given to Best Play, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Costume Design, Best Set Design and Best Short Film – The Video Diaries Project, a documentary about the artist in the SOAF. Some plays will be selected for publication in the anthology The Best Plays From The Strawberry One-Act Festival.

The Riant Theatre’s Strawberry Theatre Festival is accepting submissions for Full Length Plays(between 60 – 90 minutes) and Musicals (not to exceed 120 minutes), Short Plays, Cabaret, Magic Acts, Improv and Sketch Comedy (40 – 60 minutes) and Staged Readings. Plays selected for the festival can perform between 3 – 5 performances. To obtain an application email us atRiantTheatre@gmail.com The deadline to submit an application is November 15, 2017 and for late submissions deadline is March 30, 2018. 
If your play is chosen to participate in the May Strawberry Theatre Festival THERE IS A NONREFUNDABLE PARTICIPATION FEE of $400 for submissions received by November 15, 2017 and $500.00 submissions received after November 15th

For Short Plays (40 – 55 minutes) THERE IS A NONREFUNDABLE PARTICIPATION FEE of $350 for Submissions received by November 15, 2017 and $400 for submissions received after November 15, 2017.

All plays in the Strawberry Theatre Festival will receive:
  • an on-camera interview for your play,
  • a (2) hour technical rehearsal for (1) hour plays and a (3) hour technical rehearsal for 90 minute shows, additional rehearsal time can be rented,
  • inclusion in our mailing brochures and our blog The Vine: Everything That’s Fresh in the Strawberry One-Act Festival,
  • (1) ticket to our Launch Party,
  • (1) comp ticket whenever your play is performed,
  • Industry Comps for Agents, Casting Directors and PRESS; and
  • (1) ticket to the Awards Ceremony.

Staged Readings are free to the audience and are presented at Noon during the week. There is a $250 participation fee for Staged Readings that are accepted into the festival.

The participation fee does not entitle you to a percentage of the box office. All shows have the option to receive between 20% to 90% of the Box Office. The Short Plays (40-55 minute) must take at least the 20% Option. The Longer Plays (60-90 minutes) must take at least the 30% Option. The 91-120 minute plays must take at least 40% Option. The Theatre seats 60. For 20% of the Box Office the Theatre Usage Fee is $2.50 x 60 seats = $150 per show. For 2 Performances that would be $300.00 for 20% of the Box Office Receipts. For 30% Option it would be $3.50 x 60 seats, etc.
