Who’s Who

Allegra Mroz (Mara) is very excited to be performing in the Strawberry Festival this year. She would like to thank Fred Dennehy for the lovely opportunity, and hopes you enjoy the performance. Previous credits include Ophelia in Hamlet, Hermia in A Midsummer Nights Dream, Johanna in Sweeney Todd, and Guildenstern in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead.
 
Dawn Lanoue (Melanie) has been featured in many roles in NJ and NYC productions including: 'Night MOther, Outside Mullingan, The Heidi Chronicles, August Osage County, Steel Magnolias, Crimes of the Heart, and A Midsummer Night's Dream.  Recently, Dawn has been a two-time Nominee for the NJACT Perry Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Play. .






Russ Ortiz (Alex) has been an actor working in New Jersey and New York theatres since 2009.  During this time Russ has appeared in over fifty-five productions  Russ wishes to thank Fred Dennehy and Ed Faver for giving him the opportunity to perform in A Visit In The Afternoon.
Fred Dennehy (Playwright) graduated from Yale Law School and was a lawyer for 40 years before taking up acting and playwriting.  During his legal career, he made several climbing trips to the Himalayas.  He and his wife Anne have a 45 year old autistic son.  They were “autism pioneers” and are survivors from the early days of treatment under the now thoroughly discredited “Refrigerator Mother Theory.”  Fred is the author or co-author of eight plays that have been performed Off Broadway, Off-Off Broadway and in more than a dozen Play Festivals in New Jersey Community Theaters.  He has written and produced in New Jersey The Examination, Twelfth Draft, The California Of The Mind, and the entry in this Strawberry One Act Festival, A Visit In The Afternoon.  He has also co-written and produced in multiple venues three comedies with Lisa Black -- A Night At The Opera, G.P.S. and Dead Reckoning.  His recent Homecoming was one of six One Act Plays selected by the Red Bull Theater out of 300 submissions to be performed at the Lucille Lortel Theatre together with commissioned One Act Plays by Tina Howe and Douglas Wright.  He is currently working on a Full Length Play concerning the experiences of a middle aged man with autism.


Ed Faver (Director) has worked as an actor and director at several venues in New Jersey, including Circle Players, the Paper Mill Playhouse, and the NJ Shakespeare Festival.  Recent directing credits include:  The Normal Heart, Children of a Lesser God, Rabbit Hole, and Body Awareness.
